Meet
the Staff

Rev. Lindsey Peterson,
Pastor
I am moved by the possibility and experience
of
the incarnate God and discovering, in the particulars of our living experience,
the meeting of divine and human.
I seek to connect people to the movement
of God
in their lives, believing that our lives flow most fully and beautifully when
we live out of the inner wisdom God provides.
I am intrigued and compelled by Jesus
as one who
was so very near to God, so full of God, so alive with God and how that
relationship led him to a supremely creative, courageous, universally healing
existence which continues to inspire us today.
I engage creative expression as an inherent
part
of spiritual life; faith is a matter of our whole being and we come to know
ourselves in God and as God's through our bodies as well as our minds.
Movement, music and writing are central forms of prayer in my life.
I believe that an awareness of the Spirit
-
spirituality - is vital in our lives today and that we develop and nurture this
awareness through a combination of individual responsibility, intention and
reflection and communal practice.
Raised up in the UCC in
Salem, MA, ministry has been a part of my journey for a long time, though in a
variety of forms; coffee shop work, teaching, in an immigration law firm, at
other churches and more. I completed my undergraduate degree at
Connecticut College double majoring in Religious Studies & Gender and
Women's Studies. Then earned my MDiv from Harvard Divinity School in
May 2010 and was ordained to ministry in the UCC upon receiving the call to
minister with Buckingham in the summer of 2012.

Sue Fisher, Director
of
Christian Education
Worship experiences where fun and faith
go
hand-in-hand, where young people enjoy—not endure—their time in church, are the
cornerstones of our Christian education program. We offer active, engaging
services with elements designed to appeal to multi-age groups of children and
youth. Special emphasis is placed on progressive Christian reading and
discussion of the Bible, as well as time, tools and techniques that encourage
young people to “go within,” to tap into the divine energy that exists in and
connects us all. I’m passionate about kids and animals, and am an avid runner
and reader.
My husband and I are raising our daughter
and
son here in Glastonbury, where our family has been active members of the
Glastonbury community and Buckingham faith community for 12 years. I’ve served
as a Christian educator for 14 years, received my Bachelors of Arts from the
College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and spent two years as a
Cooperative Masters of Divinity student at Hartford Seminary.

Rich Prario,
Accompanist
Rich Prario grew up in eastern Massachusetts,
starting piano lessons in 6th grade. A short time later, he developed an
interest in the organ at the Episcopal church he was attending. This led to
serving as the church's organist during his senior year of high school.
In the course of his 40-year career as a church musician, he has played
in Congregational, Lutheran, Baptist, and Episcopalian parishes.
Meanwhile, his major professional focus
has been
in education, obtaining degrees from Middlebury College, Purdue University, and
the University of Nice in southern France. He has taught in private
schools in Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York, and is now
getting a taste of the public sector at a high school near his home.
A man of many interests, Rich became
passionately involved in historic architecture during his 20s, leading him to
restore two homes, a Victorian in Takoma Park, MD, and his current house, an
1820 Federal, in Hampton, CT. Yes, he could finally afford his house in
the Hamptons!
Although he has always been interested
in
spiritual matters, the depth of his knowledge, experience, and
"connection" expanded exponentially in 2013 when he took a week-long
residential course in meditation at Virginia's Monroe Institute.
"Seek, and ye shall find." "Knock, and it shall be
opened." How true!

Charity Clark, Vocal Music Leader
Charity
Clark is so pleased to be joining the worship team as the vocal music leader at Buckingham. Holding a Masters of Music in vocal performance from the University of Hartford, Charity is a professional singer who has over a decade of experience
as a church musician. Praised for her warm rich voice, Charity has many credits as a concert soloist and opera singer in addition
to her work as a choral conductor. She currently maintains a private voice and piano studio in Broad Brook, CT where she lives
with her husband Matt, their four year old son Christopher, and their cat Velcro.

Susan Betz, Office
Administrator
Susan has worked in an office setting
for more than
twenty five years, 9 of them at Buckingham Church. She makes sure there are
bulletins every Sunday and a newsletter every month, as well as being sure all
the bills are paid and questions are answered. Her duties as administrator are
too numerous to list and the job changes every day!
Susan has a degree in Graphic Design
and Fine Arts
and occasionally uses her talents to create bulletin covers and artwork for the
church. She grew up in Glastonbury before moving to Manchester 25 years ago to
raise her three children. When not with her family, Susan is in her garden, traveling,
painting or dog sitting for friends.

Young People’s Ministry
There are several members who regularly help our Director of Christian Education, Sue Fisher, in ministering
to the young people in our congregation. They teach Church
School and lead the Junior and Senior Youth Groups among other things.
At this time, however, they are not formally organized as a committee.
